However, as early as in 1993, the famous Moscow originator M.N. Krutov discovered a similar phlox in his Moscow region. It was a kidney phlox mutation of paniculata. The unusual plant was given the name 'Devil'.

Description of phlox filings: According to the appearance of the inflorescences, the flowers can be divided into two types. The first includes varieties in which a soft, fluffy, small-needle inflorescence, consisting of colored needle bracts.

Consequently, it has neither petals, nor stamens, nor pistils. Inflorescence somewhat "prickly" species. The second type includes varieties, the inflorescences of which consist of modified petals: elongated, curved and twisted, as if half-dissolved buds.

The peculiarity of phlox filings is that they remain decorative for up to three months (10 - 12 weeks), before the onset of steady frost and the appearance of snow. In 2006, in the Moscow region, flowering of filings was observed in mid-November.
