Ruttia is a tropical flower belonging to botanists of the genus Akantovyh. At home, quite often found as a houseplant. In the people, ruttia, often called "rabbit ears", as a closer look at the inflorescences, you can see that it is very much like the head of a rabbit. The flowers have a black head and long ears of this animal, but this is just a visual illusion, the plant has nothing to do with these animals. The tropical climate that culture is used to is very difficult to reproduce at home, therefore, care necessarily includes regular spraying with water.

Evergreen shrubs of some species have been discovered in African countries, where they grow as floral evergreens. For gardeners, ruttia is attractive not only by its beautiful appearance, but also by the variety of shades of the inflorescences, which can be pink, red, white or yellow, as shown in the photo below. An exotic houseplant in the tropics can reach 2-3 meters, at home it rarely exceeds the 1,5 meter in length. Quite often, ruttia can be grown as an ampeltic room flower, and in the summer it can be brought into the garden.

The stems of the rue are very flexible, often creeping semi-woody. On them are leaves with a glossy smooth surface. The most popular type of ruttia with yellow flowers, in Russia it is the most common indoor flower. Flowers are formed from a black head at the base and petals "ears", as shown in the photo below. Ruttia care at home

In order for ruttia to feel comfortable at home, it is necessary for her to create all the conditions and proper care, only in this way, the plant will delight the grower with its original bloom all year round. To begin with, make sure that Ruttia has a pot with good drainage system and light soil. Often, for planting this flower, they use soil based on coconut fiber, since the perennial is tropical and requires conditions that are at least a bit similar to natural ones.

Many growers say that ruttia is not afraid of either drought or overflow, but this is not always the case; some species of this plant, especially hybrids with an unusual shade of inflorescences, should be watered regularly, but moderately. It is also necessary to trace that the earthen room does not dry out completely, otherwise ruttia will begin to turn yellow and fall off. When watering a plant, you can do fertilizing with complex fertilizers during flowering once a week in 1-2.

This indoor plant should be hidden from direct sunlight. In its natural environment, it grows in the penumbra, which should be provided in the home. But, in the morning for a few hours you can put up in the fresh air in the sun, and at noon before the heat, put it back in its place.
