Home flower (types and care)

Such a plant as krodilovy leaf, known to many growers, cultivating decorative leafy kinds. The flower of a quenant at home has a huge potential for growth and development of attractive deciduous mass with a wide variety of variants of its coloring. It belongs to the Marantaceae family, comes from the jungles of Brazil. Some species of ctenante are found in the dense forests of Costa Rica. It doesn’t often bloom in indoor conditions; this period lasts for the summer months. Ktenanta requires certain conditions for growth - the plant is demanding to the level of illumination. If exposed to direct sunlight, burns may develop. And the question arises as to why leaves curl and the decorative value of a plant is lost. It is possible to organize the correct care in conditions of bright enough, but diffused light. It is recommended to place the pot next to the south or west window, but behind a transparent curtain.

Description of the botanical culture of the flower and the photo of the flower

Ktenante has an average height of deciduous shrub, great for decorative landscaping of residential premises and offices. Description of the flower should begin with the requirements of the temperature regime of cultivation, since even a short-term decrease in ambient temperature leads to decay of the root system. The ideal temperature on summer days is from + 18 to + 25 ℃, 0 in winter requires a slight decrease to + 20. It is necessary to water with caution, only after the soil in the tank has dried on the 3 cm deep. In winter and autumn, 1 is watered once a week, in summer, as needed. Cultivation of a botanical culture is worth starting with choosing the right type. The fact is that some species of plants reach as they grow simply gigantic sizes. There are instances of 3 meters in height and up to 5 meters in diameter.

In most varieties intended for indoor floriculture, the leaves do not reach a length greater than 30. They have the correct oval shape, sometimes with pointed ends. The color of the deciduous mass depends on the type of ctenants - most often it is a rich dark green background and streaks along the central axis of white, cream, yellow, light green and burgundy. Crocodile leaf grows fast enough. During 1 vegetative season, a bush can grow in height to 10, see

ctenanthe (1) A feature of culture is the dependence on the position of the sun in the sky. Toward evening, as the sun goes down, the deciduous mass gathers into a bun and stretches upwards. And in the early morning, during sieving, they diverge to descend along the pot. At the same time, if you listen, you can hear a distinct rustle. Sometimes it seems that the plant is alive and has some kind of life.

Despite the fact that a ktenante looks like a typical bush, this botanical culture does not have such a form. There is a rather thick loose trunk, along which the foliage is densely planted.

We organize the care of the ctenant at home: watering, spraying, feeding

So, caring for a ctenant at home includes several mandatory agrotechnical measures. This is a timely watering, daily spraying of deciduous mass with warm, settled water and mineral supplements. We organize all these procedures in a strictly defined order, otherwise we risk making gross mistakes.

Let's start with watering. Only well-filtered, settled water with a neutral pH is used for it. Water temperature for irrigation should be at 2-4 degrees above the ambient temperature. Pouring liquid into the pan is not recommended. If after watering the glass there is water, it should be immediately drained and dried the pallet with paper napkins.

Spraying deciduous mass - a crucial moment. Even a two-day absence of this procedure can lead to a twisting of deciduous mass and its subsequent death. Spray should be warm water from the spray, morning and evening. In winter, when the air in the room is dry, spraying can be done 3-4 times. It is possible to reduce the number of necessary procedures if we ensure the natural process of air humidification next to the cantenant. For these purposes, wetted sphagnum moss is used, the layout of a number of gravel that is moistened with water. You can also put a flower next to the aquarium or indoor fountain.

Top dressing ktenanta begin with the beginning of February. At this time, the plant begins its rapid growth. Requires a complex of fertilizers with a high content of nitrogen and phosphorus. Towards the middle of March, fertilizing with diluted mullein or any other organic compound is carried out. Mineral liquid complexes are then applied 1 once every 2 week until the end of September. From October to January, 1 is administered once a month with a low nitrogen content.

Regular removal of dry leaves is a good prevention of the occurrence of infections and plant diseases. Use a shear or sharp knife to remove. Cut areas should be powdered with crushed charcoal or ash.

An annual transplant takes place in the first 5 years of a flower’s life. Then the pot is increased only if necessary. To do this, use the method of transshipment. In other cases, in spring they only change the top layer of soil to fresh ground.

For reproduction using apical buds and the method of dividing the bush. To carry out this procedure should be early spring, until the end of April.

Types of the tenant (Oppenheim, Burlet, Lubbers and compressed) with a photo

Types ktenant so diverse that botanists have gone astray. Most of them claim that in nature there are approximately 120 varieties. In fact, they are even more. But not all are suitable for home breeding. The following are the most popular types of a ktenant with a photo: burle and Oppenheim, Lubbers and compressed.

The wide-spread Ctenatna Berl-Marx, whose birthplace is tropical Brazil. It has a small height, only 40 cm and an optimal leaf length - up to 10, see. Ctenanthe burle-marxii HA Kenn is a compact houseplant with an unusual burgundy color of the lower side of the leaf blade. On the upper side dominates a light green color, framed by rich dark stripes, which are located longitudinally. May successfully bloom at home. This usually happens in February. A large whisk with small white inflorescences is ejected.

Ctenanthe burle-marxii HA Kenn (1) Ctenant Lubbers also came to us from Brazil. It develops more powerful growth and in an adult state it can reach 80, see its main advantage - decorative effect due to divorces on the leaves. They are yellow or cream-colored, depicted as large strokes or bird feathers. The main background of the deciduous mass is lime.

Ctenanthe lubbersiana (1) Ctenanthe lubbersiana (2)Ct. oppenheimiana (to Oppenheim's ktenanta) surpasses the previous species in its growth by 1-20 cm and can grow at home to the 1 meter. The leaves have rather long petioles with which they are attached to the central trunk. The velvety leaf blade reaches the length of 40 cm. It has a rich light green color with white stripes. The back is painted in purple colors.

Ktenanta Burle maxi and compressed in many respects are similar. These are low plants with oval green leaves. In the second type, the leaves are slightly pointed.

Why leaves and other growing problems curl

Why leaves are curled in a ktenanta - this is the most popular question, sounding from novice gardeners. There are other problems growing at home, but this is the most important. Therefore, we will answer it out of turn. So, the twisting of the leaves is a consequence of insufficient watering and moisture of the surrounding air. It is enough to adjust the mode of watering and spraying of the deciduous mass and the problem will be eliminated.

Much more dangerous is over-irrigation, which resulted in root rotting. Outwardly, this is manifested by withering sluggish leaves and the central stem. Save the plant can only be if there are whole roots. Release the root system from the ground. Soak in a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Then transplanted into pre-prepared dry soil and cover with an improvised polyethylene hothouse.

The appearance of discolored or brown spots on the foliage is the result of sunburn. The plant should be rearranged into the room for a few days and watch him. If symptoms persist, a spider mite should be treated.
